Paws in Training is owned and operated by Angel Wasserman, CPDT, certified
professional dog trainer and FEMA certified, emergency animal rescue
volunteer. Paws in Training is neither a franchise nor a huge conglomerate. We are a small group of animal care providers who seek to make a difference in the lives of dogs and their people.
The Story of Paws in Training
I worked in Corporate America for twenty years, but every spare moment was dedicated to my passion… dog training and animal rescue. When corporate downsizing came knocking at my door, I was able to swap my business suit for my Bermuda shorts and my passion became my job.
I am primarily known for rescuing aggressive or dysfunctional dogs that everyone else has given up on. The goal was always to prevent euthanasia and rehabilitate the dogs, producing safe family pets. In my early rescue days, I worked with numerous trainers to manage specific aggressive tendencies. While all the trainers told me what to do, none of them told me why the behaviors were present or why using their methods would work. Not understanding the psychology behind dog training was extremely frustrating for me. In fact, this was the key driver to my company’s focus on education.
All of our clients learn what is creating the behavior, how to manage it and the psychology of why the training works. We’re working together to create happier, healthier dogs and improving the bond between dogs and their people.
