The Focused Canine; distraction training class for dogs
The Focused Canine- distraction training class for dogs
If your dog responds to commands well in the home but demonstrates selective hearing while he’s out in public, the Focused Canine- Distraction Training class is for you. This video is a snippet from an actual class and demonstrates a few of the skills that your dog will learn.
Dogs do not have the ability to automatically transfer skills from indoor use to outdoor use. They have be trained in distracting environments in order to master critical skills such as managing their impulses and keeping their focus on you….no matter how good that squirrel looks to them at the moment. This class is taught in one of the most distracting environments we could conceive of…a public park. The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test is offered at the end of this class and dogs will train for the test weekly.
None of the dogs in this video came to class with the skills you are about to see. They learned them in the class and yes, your dog is capable of learning them too!
Prerequisite: A Paws in Training basic obedience class
